Pojer e Sandri's Sauvignon is a fresh mountain white from Trentino, made by the innovative Faedo estate. Citrus, passionfruit and herbal notes give a familiar varietal profile, interpreted with a gently rustic character. It is an approachable bottle for lighter food and for Sauvignon drinkers curious about another Italian setting.
- Aromas: Citrus and passionfruit, with blackcurrant-leaf notes adding the herbal dimension that makes Sauvignon's fragrance so recognisable.
- Palate: Fresh and direct, with fruit carried by balanced acidity. A gently rustic impression gives the palate character without making the wine feel heavy.
- Style: A dry, medium-bodied mountain Sauvignon with aromatic freshness and a food-friendly, informal character rather than obvious oak richness.
- Winemaking: Made from Sauvignon in Trentino, focusing on the grape's fruit and herbal identity. Careful handling preserves the fresh style and keeps the emphasis on an approachable, clear varietal expression.
- Cellaring: Enjoy now. Prioritise drinking over further ageing, as delicate fruit can fade with time.
- Food Pairing: Grilled fish, prawns with herbs, goat cheese, asparagus or chicken salad; lemony dressings and fresh greens complement its citrus-and-leaf profile.
If Sauvignon is your usual white, a mountain-grown Italian version is a lovely change of scenery. Pour it with a lighter meal and enjoy the familiar citrus and herbal character in a different setting. A relaxed way to explore Pojer e Sandri's fresh-white repertoire. Serve cool rather than ice cold, allowing the fragrance and texture to show more clearly in the glass.
Pojer e Sandri
In Faedo, in the hills of Trentino, Pojer e Sandri began in 1975 when Fiorentino Sandri and Mario Pojer joined forces to pursue a shared interest in wine. Their partnership became a project defined by curiosity, technical invention and a close understanding of mountain vineyards. The range is unusually broad, encompassing Nosiola and Müller-Thurgau alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Nero and Bordeaux varieties. Different vineyard elevations help the team explore both individual grapes and carefully assembled blends.
The estate is particularly associated with innovation, including specialised grape-washing and protective pressing techniques designed to preserve fruit character. That inventive spirit also appears in Zero Infinito, a project based on the disease-resistant Solaris grape. Traditional-method sparkling wines, the Bianco Faye and Rosso Faye blends, and the distinctive fortified red Merlino show the breadth of the cellar’s interests. Spirits and vinegars extend the story still further. For wine lovers who enjoy freshness with imagination, Pojer e Sandri offers a mountain estate where longstanding friendship and experimentation continue to produce an engagingly individual collection.
