Rodel Pianezzi is Pojer e Sandri's selected Pinot Nero from Trentino, where old vines and mountain conditions shape a fragrant, savoury red. The estate gives the wine patient oak maturation for depth and integration. This magnum is a lovely format for a dinner where Pinot Noir's subtler detail can take its time.
- Aromas: Raspberry, blackberry, cherry and plum, with tobacco notes adding a mature, savoury dimension around the fruit.
- Palate: Fuller and harmonious, with supportive tannins and a gently salty finish. Freshness gives definition to the fruit and keeps the texture balanced.
- Style: A dry, medium-bodied selected Pinot Nero with old-vine depth, a mature savoury character and the finesse to accompany thoughtful cooking.
- Winemaking: The selected vineyard uses Pinot Nero material associated with Burgundy, with fruit from established vines. More than a year of oak maturation develops the structure and savoury layers before release.
- Cellaring: Drink now if well stored, with potential for further development in bottle. If ageing further, store in a cool and dark location. Before opening stand upright to settle sediment, and taste before choosing gentle decanting or further aeration.
- Food Pairing: Roast duck, game birds, pork with herbs or mushroom risotto; gentle roasting brings out its fruit and tobacco notes without overpowering them.
A magnum of mountain Pinot Nero is a lovely reason to make dinner last a little longer. Rodel Pianezzi offers the fragrance you expect from the grape, with extra savoury detail. Invite a few friends, choose a careful food match and enjoy it slowly. Serve slightly cool, taste before deciding on decanting, and give the wine time to develop in the glass.
Pojer e Sandri
In Faedo, in the hills of Trentino, Pojer e Sandri began in 1975 when Fiorentino Sandri and Mario Pojer joined forces to pursue a shared interest in wine. Their partnership became a project defined by curiosity, technical invention and a close understanding of mountain vineyards. The range is unusually broad, encompassing Nosiola and Müller-Thurgau alongside Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Nero and Bordeaux varieties. Different vineyard elevations help the team explore both individual grapes and carefully assembled blends.
The estate is particularly associated with innovation, including specialised grape-washing and protective pressing techniques designed to preserve fruit character. That inventive spirit also appears in Zero Infinito, a project based on the disease-resistant Solaris grape. Traditional-method sparkling wines, the Bianco Faye and Rosso Faye blends, and the distinctive fortified red Merlino show the breadth of the cellar’s interests. Spirits and vinegars extend the story still further. For wine lovers who enjoy freshness with imagination, Pojer e Sandri offers a mountain estate where longstanding friendship and experimentation continue to produce an engagingly individual collection.
