The 2024 Stefano Lubiana Estate Pinot Noir is a boundary-pushing Tasmanian red, forged from the absolute limits of the estate's biodynamic Derwent Valley vineyard. This micro-selection channels a moody, dark-fruited intensity and raw elemental energy, capturing the absolute best of a stellar, low-yielding cool-climate vintage.
  • Aromas: Sour cherries, damson plums, and dried strawberries, layered with rose petals, cocoa, and a clean, forest floor mineral edge.
  • Palate: Cranberries, pomegranate, and a touch of cedar riding over a focused, flinty mineral backbone.
  • Style: Midweight, structured, and incredibly refreshing, balancing a generous burst of fruit with a laser-sharp acid line and a long, savory finish.
  • Winemaking: Certified biodynamic and organic, utilizing 40% whole-bunch fermentation and matured for 12 months in French oak barriques to lock in maximum structural integration.
  • Cellaring: Deliciously fresh and ready to enjoy right now, but possesses the excellent structure and drive to age gracefully in the cellar through 2034+.
  • Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with roasted duck breast, wild mushroom risotto, pan-seared venison, or spicy Southeast Asian duck salads.

This bottle is a masterclass in whole-bunch architecture and pure cool-climate grit. It completely strips away the standard fruity Pinot playbook, delivering an electric, highly savory profile and uncompromising estate craftsmanship that aggressively punches well above its weight.

Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes) - 94 Points

Bright ruby in the glass with aromas of flint-struck dark and red cherry fruits along with plum and macerated summer berry fruits. Seemingly a little more aromatic concentration underlined with hints of pressed meadow flowers, struck stone, mountain herbs, earth, dried meats and exotic spices. These aromas transpose neatly onto the palate, which shows an expressive, savoury flow, tight, chalky tannins and a bright mineral line that drives the wine along beautifully and keeps all in check.
