- Aromas: The nose is vibrant and lifted, bursting with white peach, fresh lemon curd, and pink grapefruit, layered with complex hints of struck-match flint, toasted cashew, and sea spray.
- Palate: The palate is clean and intense, delivering driving citrus and crunchy stone fruit flavours balanced by a razor-sharp line of natural acidity and a fine, pithy mineral texture.
- Style: This is a contemporary, high-class Chardonnay that trades heavy, over-oaked weight for length and precision, combining excellent fruit power with modern restraint and mouth-watering freshness.
- Winemaking: Sourced from premium sub-regional vineyards, the fruit is whole-bunch pressed and wild-fermented on its solids in French oak barrels (puncheons), where it rests on fine lees with no malolactic fermentation to preserve its crisp drive.
- Cellaring: While built to celebrate its immediate, thrilling crunch and vibrant youthful drive, it possesses the structural balance to cellar beautifully over the next 3 to 6 years.
- Food Pairing: Phenomenal with salt and pepper squid, Kingfish ceviche with lime and ginger, Vietnamese chicken salad (Gỏi gà), or a classic Thai green fish curry.
Nocturne
Nocturne is the husband-and-wife partnership of Julian Langworthy and Alana, crafting highly awarded, site-driven wines from exceptional vineyards in Margaret River.
Julian, a Margaret River native, is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading winemakers, with accolades including Winemaker of the Year in the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion and the Jimmy Watson Trophy. Together, they focus on sourcing outstanding fruit, including from their own Sheoak Vineyard, known for its mature Cabernet vines.
The range is divided into Single Vineyard (SV) and Sub Regional (SR) wines. The SV wines are precise, powerful expressions of exceptional sites, produced in limited quantities, while the SR range offers a more approachable, vibrant style.
Across both ranges, Nocturne wines are defined by energy, balance, and drinkability—elegant, expressive, and a true reflection of Margaret River.
