Ro'Si is Masca del Tacco's Pinot Nero rose from Puglia. It gives this familiar red grape a bright pink expression, with gentle orchard fruit and wild strawberry notes. Fresh and approachable, it is a useful bottle for a relaxed lunch or a table where several different dishes need one versatile wine.
- Aromas: Melon, pear and wild strawberry, with a delicate rose-petal hint bringing a soft floral lift to the fragrance.
- Palate: Fresh and juicy, with fruit balanced by a lightly savoury finish. The texture is gentle, making it comfortable both with snacks and lighter meals.
- Style: A fruit-led, medium-bodied rose with an easygoing personality and a refreshing finish, suited to informal drinking and varied lighter dishes.
- Winemaking: Pinot Nero is used for a lighter rose expression, retaining delicate fruit and a gentle structure. The wine's character centres on freshness and approachability rather than the density of red Pinot Nero.
- Cellaring: Enjoy now; no further ageing required, as delicate fruit can fade with time.
- Food Pairing: Grilled prawns, salads, chicken skewers, antipasti or a vegetable tart; it is particularly useful for a mixed spread of lunch dishes.
Ro'Si is an easy bottle to imagine at a long lunch: fresh fruit, a gentle floral note and no need for ceremony. Keep it cool, put a few dishes in the middle and enjoy a Puglian pink that is happy to go with the flow. Serve chilled and enjoy with food, allowing the delicate fruit and savoury finish to stay at the centre.
Masca del Tacco
In Erchie, in the Salento area of Puglia, Masca del Tacco brings a family’s winemaking ambition to a historic local cellar. Felice Mergè, guided by his father Armando’s experience, acquired and restored the former village cooperative in 2010; the building’s wine history reaches back to 1949. The project belongs to the same family world as Poggio Le Volpi, while maintaining a distinctly southern character. Primitivo, Negroamaro and Susumaniello are central to its reds, with Fiano providing a white counterpart.
The estate’s appeal is expressive Puglian fruit, from generous, accessible reds to more concentrated wines from old bush-trained vines. Piano Chiuso, its Primitivo di Manduria Riserva, comes from a walled vineyard of vines more than seventy years old, connecting the wine to a specific piece of landscape. Susumaniello offers an especially interesting discovery for drinkers keen to explore beyond Primitivo. With its restored cellar, family continuity and focus on regional varieties, Masca del Tacco offers an inviting combination of southern warmth, local heritage and contemporary winemaking ambition.
