Pyramid Valley
The wines of Pyramid Valley are born in the dramatic limestone and clay derived soils and slopes of the estate in Waikari, North Canterbury. A unique high-altitude site that is home to some of the most profound Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines in the world. Grown biodynamically and following natural principles in winemaking with the use of indigenous yeasts, natural fining and minimal, if any, filtration, Pyramid Valley create wine that breathes of its place and tastes of nowhere else on earth. Working with exceptional growers in Marlborough, North Canterbury and Central Otago, Pyramid Valley also craft it's own Appellation wines. A series of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc that share the same sense of somewhereness as the wines from their own estate. Pyramid Valley was founded in 2000 by Mike and Claudia Weersing after a 15-year search for the ideal vineyard site, eventually settling on the dramatic limestone and clay slopes of Waikari in North Canterbury, New Zealand. Guided by biodynamic principles and minimal intervention winemaking, the estate quickly gained recognition for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a profound sense of place.
In 2017, the estate entered a new chapter under the ownership of Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth, while maintaining the same unwavering commitment to terroir-driven wines that honestly reflect the land they come from.
