The Pyramid Valley North Canterbury Pinot Noir is a light-to-medium-bodied, vibrant, and highly expressive cool-climate red wine from North Canterbury, New Zealand. Crafted as the estate's highly regional entry-level release, this progressive wine beautifully balances pure, high-toned red fruits with a stimulating, rustic charm.
  • Aromas: Highly fragrant and inviting with red cherry, wild raspberry, plum, dried local herbs, and a subtle haze of woodsmoke.
  • Palate: Supple and juicy with pure red berry fruit, balanced by a fine, tart line of refreshing acidity and powdery, fine-grained tannins.
  • Style: Stimulating yet rustic, prioritizing fruit buoyancy and cool-climate precision over heavy extraction or dense weight.
  • Winemaking: Handpicked from certified organic vineyards, fully destemmed, and wild-fermented before maturing in French oak and concrete vessels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
  • Cellaring: Deliciously fresh and energetic now, but possesses the natural tension to hold and unwind beautifully over 4 to 8 years.
  • Food Pairing: Sensational with casual or upscale Asian pairings like Peking duck pancakes, char siu pork, or five-spice crispy duck salad.
This is the Estate's high-energy, free-spirited regional superstar that captures pure cool-climate vitality in every drop. It swaps heavy-handed extraction for a delightfully crunchy matrix of wild berries and sappy kitchen herbs, while a vibrant splash of natural acidity leaves a perfectly refreshing finish.

A perfumed nose of rooibos tea, crushed strawberries, rose petal, grated nutmeg and moss. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. Textural and vibrant with an array of floral notes that combine and add depth to red fruit, herbs and spice, culminating in an impressive finish.

Pyramid Valley

Pyramid Valley was founded in 2000 by Mike and Claudia Weersing after a 15-year search for the ideal vineyard site, eventually settling on the dramatic limestone and clay slopes of Waikari in North Canterbury, New Zealand. Guided by biodynamic principles and minimal intervention winemaking, the estate quickly gained recognition for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a profound sense of place.

In 2017, the estate entered a new chapter under the ownership of Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth, while maintaining the same unwavering commitment to terroir-driven wines that honestly reflect the land they come from.
