Protero -Aromatico
Protero is the result of Stephen Pannell’s long-standing pursuit of site-driven wines in the Adelaide Hills. First discovered in 2004 near Gumeracha, the vineyard revealed its potential through its cool-climate setting and distinctive character.
In 2019, Stephen and Fiona Pannell secured the site after years of working with its fruit. Following significant challenges, including bushfire, they committed fully to reworking the vineyard—removing unsuitable varieties and replanting with those better suited to the region, including Barbera, Dolcetto, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Riesling.
The Aromatico is a blend of these white varieties, bringing together the diversity of the site in a single wine.
Fresh, lifted, and highly aromatic, it is a vibrant expression of this unique Adelaide Hills vineyard—textural, engaging, and effortlessly drinkable.
