Parker Coonawarra Estate - Favourite Son Cabernet
John and Faye Parker established Parker Coonawarra Estate in 1985, following a long-standing connection with the region. Today, the privately owned estate remains committed to John Parker’s exacting standards, with a focus on producing the most faithful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra’s celebrated Terra Rossa soils—widely regarded as the benchmark for classic Australian Cabernet.
The estate’s first release, the 1988 First Growth, was met with outstanding success, winning the Penfold Hyland Trophy in Perth and later ranking among the top Bordeaux-style wines at the 1991 International Wine Challenge in London. Over more than a quarter of a century, Parker Estate has continued to earn numerous wine show medals, trophies and accolades, including a Five Star rating from James Halliday and Langton’s Classification V for Excellence.
While the range has expanded to include Chardonnay, Shiraz and Merlot, Cabernet remains at the heart of the estate. The Favourite Son Cabernet is a great example of the region’s strengths—showcasing the structure, depth and character that have made Coonawarra famous.
